Biography
After several years of exhibiting his paintings in Ketchikan and Anchorage, Jim Fowler turned from gallery art to book illustration, and for fifteen years illustrated childrens’ books and magazines, in addition to holding a part-time graphics job and raising two beautiful daughters. During the past several years, however, he has sought relief from studio work and has delighted in painting plein-aire landscapes, exhibiting primarily in Juneau, where he currently resides.

Jim’s recent work is among the collection at the Juneau City Museum, as well as many private collections. His older work is represented in the Centennial Collection, the Alaska State Ferry Collection (Matanuska), the Ketchikan Pioneer’s Home, and in the collection of Sealaska Corporation.

With his daughters both teenagers now, and having retired from his graphics job, Jim is now illustrating and painting full time.
