Biography
Beth Flor was born and raised in Missouri. She attended the University of Colorado, graduating Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 1972. In 1974 she moved to Southeast Alaska with her husband and built a home on the shores of Wrangell Narrows near Petersburg. She has two grown children.

Flor has been accepted in over fifty national juried exhibitions since ’95, and is a Signature Member of the National Oil and Acrylic Painter’s Society and a Fellow of the American Artists Professional League. The artist has participated in many national exhibitions and has recieved numerous awards. A small sampling of these honors are listed below:

Third Prize in International Artist Magazine’s Still Life and Floral Competition, 2005

“Best Still Life” from the 2003 National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society Exhibit

Helen Longmire Memorial Award 2000, from “Faces on Places” in St. Louis

Liela Garden Sawyer Memorial Award 1997, from the American Artist’s Professional League

Beth Flor has also been included in two books published by International Artist Magazine Co, each of which have one-page features of one of her paintings. Her work has also been published in International Artist Magazine.


Personal Statement
"Although I am a representational painter I do not aim for the precise reality of a photo-realist, but a reflection of reality that is like a memory, a poetic interpretation of the everyday. I want my paintings to look like paintings, not photographs."
